What is your lawyer referring to when they say “professional fees” and “disbursements”? Professional fees are fees that vary by the complexity and qualitative nature of the work– such as representation in court or advising you on your matters. In contrast, disbursements are logistical costs incurred by your lawyer– usually necessarily so for your case– that are passed onto you. Ask your lawyer about both professional fees and disbursements when they provide you a quote for your matter.
